The Dreaded Brain Fog!

And what we can do about it.

The drop in our oestrogen level affects a few different parts of our brain and causes us quite a few problems.

  • It affects our hippocampus which affects our memory, which means we forget what we’re doing or what we were going to say
  • It affects our thalamus which affects our sleep patterns, which can mean we’re wide awake when we’re supposed to be sleepy, and sleepy when we want to be awake.
  • It affects our amygdala which affects our emotions which can also make us more stressed, which makes us more fatigued.

All three make a perfect storm — a perfect foggy storm!

1. Our brains seem to adjust to the lower oestrogen levels and these symptoms usually settle down once we’re through the menopause.

2. There are things we can do!

The bad news

Only kidding. It’s not that bad.

Everybody I’ve spoken to says that exercise is one of the best things you can do to help.

(This is one of the few times that medical practitioners and alternative health practitioners agree…
